This work is still used widely today in science classes, engineering students and by individuals learning scientific trades. English was not Leedskalnin's native tongue, and that does show in this book. Leedskalnin was somewhat secretive, claiming to know how the pyramids were built and also to know the secrets of anti-gravity.
He proved the latter, by building Coral Castle near Homestead, Florida by lifting numerous large blocks up to 30 tons without modern machinery. Despite his lack of flare and articulate speech, Edward Leedskalnin definitely had an immense understanding of energy and magnetics. Leedskalnin doesn't reach any conclusions in "Magnetic Current.

About the Author Edward Leedskalnin , Miami was an eccentric Latvian emigrant to the United States and amateur sculptor who, it is alleged, single-handedly built the monument known as Coral Castle in Florida. He was also known for his unusual theories on magnetism. No customer reviews. How does Amazon calculate star ratings?

This printing by Kessinger publishing has 55 pages, because they stripped the book of all its imagery and made it into a "text" book. Leedskalnin was a layman, not a manipulative scholar.
The idea that he would write a book describing numerous apparatus without one hand-drawn picture or diagram, is ludicrous. At the bottom of the cover, which the original has a picture according to p. Do not buy Kessinger books. It's tough these days to get much accurate information about Edward Leedskalnin. This book helped me take a brief glimpse into this 5' tall, lb. Latvian man's head. This was 1 of only two books that he wrote that are available today.
Ed Leedskalnin's slim little book is intriguing. It presents his own interpretation of how "magnetic currents" work - and his view is a bit different from that of establishment thory of "electricity and magnetism".
Nevertheless, if you keep an open mind, it is internally consistent and has some surprising insights into how "magnetic currents" flow. For example, a simultaneous two-way flow with positive "magnets" moving in one direction and negative "magnets" flowing in the opposite direction, and both of these flowing along an intertwined, spiral pathway.
It reminds me of a description of James Clerk Maxwell's attempts to envision and construct a physical model of electromagnetism, using counter-rotating, elastically linked cylinders.
I have one BIG caveat about the editions that currently let you "Look Inside" - most of them do not include Ed's - I assume original pencil-sketches of his equipment setups. I found and also bought the ReadAClassic edition ISBN: , with the pictures of red-blue-and-grey horseshoe magnets in its cover does include these diagrams. They're essential to clarifying Ed's text. Very hard to understand without any pictures and this version is missing the diagrams. Also, the author's native language was not English so this leads to some very stilted language.
I think maybe he was Estonian. When I can find a copy of the book with the diagrams I intend to go back and study it. Considering what he built single handedly, it seems like he was on to something, maybe the lost science of the Egyptians.

Little is known of his childhood, aside from the fact that his parents were not wealthy and he received only a fourth-grade formal education. Edward was a sickly boy who often spent time reading books, helping him to develop an inquisitive mind and life-long yearning for knowledge. It was suggested that he learned stonemasonry from his father and practiced this craft in Latvia after coming of age. At the age of 26 he was engaged to marry Agnes Skuvst who was ten years younger.
